Wiseman of Bandon, County Cork

Bandon in West Cork began as a planned Protestant plantation town on the upper Bandon river in the early 1600s. Among its founding colonists were Simon and William Wiseman, key figures in Richard Boyle’s Munster project whose descendants, intriguingly, may include the Roman Catholic Cardinal Nicholas Wiseman.
